The evening was delicate & dreamy. The long-delayed unfolding of leaves was taking place swiftly & silently.
To Gowanda in search of sponge mushrooms— A clear cool morning – I took the route along the cliff above the glue works, which has become like a pilgrimage almost – and so it seemed to me this morning, my first visit here since early last Fall —

A vivid clear day sunlight white + blinding shadows are very sharp + dark blue black; dandelions hurt the eyes –
A warm day in May – Memories: a little hill rank with new long grass, and dandelion seed-heads all steaming in the boiling sunlight.
