I was just looking at what has to be the wettest painting ever painted, Charles Burchfield's watercolor above. What caught my eye was the water gushing from the downspout on the side of the house and feeding a small lake where the yard used to be.

Artists Seen: Photographs of Artists in the 21st Century is an ongoing project by photographer David Moog in partnership with the Burchfield Penney Art Center.

He was fortunate enough to be in the Infantry Division due to being issued a Jeep which allowed him to hide his art supplies in the compartments.

 I met Bill in the warmth and the light of his space at Buffalo Arts Studio in 2014. Surrounded by his colorful, flowing paintings—some in progress, some completed—we talked for hours about his life as a highly creative and curious person.

Immensely passionate about poetry, Robert J. Bertholf, Ph. D. was the curator who presided over the glorious treasure trove at The Poetry/Rare Books Collection in the University Libraries at the University at Buffalo.
