Out to the “Big Woods” painting – A cool cloudy day with only rare intervals of sunshine – Still a lot of “color” in the woods. My theme – the last yellow leaves fluttering down...

Another fine day – The cox – combs are still in all their glory, as are the chrysanthemums. 

But as we proceeded northward...patches of sunlight seemingly torn by the wind, flow across the barren landscape with a startling effect that was indescribably beautiful.

A water-color (16 x 48) of the transition of Fall to Winter. – Which I have been dreaming about ever since the Art School Days...

"...A cold drizzly day – later the drizzle became outright rain. – a sketch of the clouds, with the feeling of black winter north looking in the distance..."

Day opens cloudy and grey with a wind from the south.  By noon, as I go to lunch a fine drizzle falling blown by the wind like snow...

P.M. – B & I to Chestnut Ridge Park – A chilly day with strong S.W. wind. To the western part – park and for walk up the big ravine...

(Friday) – lovely and warm. – working on frames and (P.M.) going over my wall-paper samples for Mr. Schenk. I had forgotten so many of these designs! 

 The delight of the children in this place thrilled me too.
