Dropping from the noisy car to hear the subtle notes of the seemingly countless birds was a delight – Clear sky, few booming white clouds – cold wind – Thrasher + wrens (their songs are kindred) make the air sparkle
Working on the drawings; got all the drawings in the attic down and sorted + picked out those I want to finish. Alas, that I have not taken better care of them – and alas too, I did not use better...
In studio — studying the picture of yesterday [“the reconstructed 1917 sketch of McCanty’s Barn”] and marveling at the nerve I had to use so much yellow all thru the picture. It is like the blinding glory of the golden gates of Paradise.

But of course for me the one thing worthwhile was the Max Beckman room. Beautiful color (no color) with bold black outlines and forms, well organized.
