A warm day in May - Memories: A little hill rank with new long grass, and dandelion seed-heads all stewing in the boiling sunlight.

Today marks transition of spring feeling to summer – wind all morn – never clearing – a hot wind roars & tears from SW – summer wind –

Leaves coming out fast – rich green against the grey-violet sky – A cool breeze comes up – the sight of fresh wind blown trees – it clears at early afternoon a wonderful effect – 

The calling of toads fill the night air – A cloudy morning – clear afternoon with little atmosphere – At Pond in Lakeview – the yodel call of chewink & “mockingbird” song of “catbird” song of “rollicker”

...we were horrified to see that vandals (masquerading as reclamation or real estate agents) had felled trees all over the woods removing only the trunks leaving behind great tree-tops in the greatest disorder – wherever they fell, there were no trilliums.

This is a delightful place, with places, and little pools of clear, but brownish water, teeming with life. A few studies of water-striders.
