As I came into the house, I heard the cardinal singing – I answered him and he came to the pine trees signing excitedly – So today must be considered the first day of Spring –

The snow has slid from some slate roofs in jagged patches so the town is a sharp clutter of black triangles & squares against the vivid white snow.
