Working hard at a doll-house for the children – I have not had such pure joy for a long time.
How good it is to enjoy the proper pursuits at the proper age. How often do we hear of people longing to be a child at Christmas (and I too) but at thirty-seven it is the greatest and most fitting pleasure for me to provide Christmas joy for my youngsters.
Dec. 22 - Evening to Dr’s for alpine lamp treatment – walk over and back-
The immense black vault of the sky spans the road and fields – the countless lights of railroad city and town give it a strange luminosity – I think that his is like day-light at theArctic Circle.
The new floodlights on the Pennsy yards cause indescribably beautiful effects – the plume from a yard shifter lit up with dazzling brilliance –
In Ebenezer the smoke from the round-house hovers close to the ground in long flat bars of black mist, behind it the regular flashing of a search-light – these bars of smoke look like clouds and it is strange to see the light back of them, instead of below-
Coming back a black house up against a plume of smoke, behind which is a floodlight, which sends out rays thru the openings like a sun-burst-
A long-bearing freight train is starting out on a long journey – its plume grows more and more brilliant as it nears the floodlight – then as it passes it, it fades in a dense white haze of light, above is Orion sparkling brilliantly. There was a powerful beauty about this train
