While taking in the artwork and the museum space I thought to myself, “This would be an amazing place to work.” 

I was documenting paintings in my studio this morning. Two pieces needed labeling that I made during my first two stays in Buffalo this year as the Artist-in-Residence at the Burchfield Penney Art Center. 

Many galleries and theaters in Western New York are now shuttered-up tight for the holidays, their caretakers taking a brief reprieve before diving into the a busy new year of exhibitions and events.

On Friday (12/11), the Burchfield Penney Art Center (1300 Elmwood Ave.) will host a reading along with live music.

Stephanie works on a series of paintings simultaneously; this method prompts her to work quickly and directly. She often switches between drawing and painting in her art.
