Three Dreams: ... 2.  A florist window in a corner store in an underground arcade – growing in it were wild ginger plants, with enormous flowers.

Morning was grey and dull. Wind had veered to south-west and rain fell grudgingly. Towards noon the sky brightened sun­ward, and the half-light made dampened factory roofs glisten....

Muggy - raining in the afternoon -

When I came in from the studio at late A.M. I found Bertha excited and almost in tears — but she assured me that something nice had happened, so moving as to produce tears. It turned out that Sally had written a “story” for the water-colors of Mart’s the Ford Co. intends to use for their little magazine. The “story” turned out to be Sally’s memories of growing up in Gardenville, with emphasis on the theme that Gardenville was made precious and romantic to our children because they “saw” it through my eyes

Made tracing from the old tracings I made several years ago, of the 1917 “Windswept Meadow” (Brasch collection) and its suggested ideas for enlarging – in the new tracing I incorporated new ideas. Transferred it to a 40 x 50 mount. Evening B&I to Buffalo to shop, a snack at J.M.S.

To bring out an idea powerfully the sensation must be highly conventionalized.
