This exhibition featured experience booklets created by Buffalo Public School students involved in Buffalo State College's Brain Compatible Project. Undergraduate students enrolled in Buffalo State College course EDU 234: Holistic Curriculum Tutorial, focused on teaching strategies that aligned with the way the human brain learns. Brain-friendly techniques such as movement, collaboration and immediate feedback were employed to assist in the reading process.
Student tutors were trained in brain compatible strategies and spent two days a week helping pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade students to improve their reading skills. Tutors scripted language samples generated by their "tutees" and used this as the basis for their reading. In addition, the passages were illustrated to assist in the total reading process. The emphasis was on reading, not artwork, but this exhibit was indicative of the capabilities of tutors and tutees in a brain-compatible environment.
