The Burchfield Penney Art Center closed its doors on March 16, 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic that has interrupted lives all around the world. On May 25, 2020 George Floyd was killed by police officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota escalating an anti-racist Black Lives Matter movement that was already growing, and sparking protests in cities across the United States. This collection of small scultures from the museum's collection was concieved as an extension of the exhibition What's Going On in the museum's feature East gallery.
