The Bibliography and history of the Aries Press of Eden NY was just published by RIT Press. Author Richard Kegler has assembled an exhibition in the Collection Study Gallery that features many rare pieces from the Aries Press. The Press, founded and run by Spencer Kellogg Jr. existed from 1925-28 and included contributions from the likes of Type Designer Frederic Goudy, Artists Rockwell Kent, JJ Lankes and Wanda Gág as well as many other luminaries of the fine book world of the 1920s but mostly Kellogg published his won writing and those of his family — including his niece, Martha Kellogg (Jackson). Press Compositor Emil Georg Sahlin originally came to the US from Sweden with his brother Axel to work at the Roycroft Press in East Aurora NY. The exhibit features the majority of the typographic and design work by Emil Georg Sahlin and Spencer Kellogg that is cataloged on the book by Kegler. Examples in this exhibit are form the collection of the author and from Harold Leader's Paradise Press archive. Books are available in the Burchfield Penney Museum Store.
