The year-long, golden anniversary celebration of the Burchfield Penney continues with musical tribute to American composer and pianist Nils Vigeland. Buffalo-born Vigeland made his professional debut as a pianist in 1969 with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Lukas Foss, conductor. He earned his Ph.D. at the University at Buffalo where he studied composition with Morton Feldman and piano with Yvar Mikhashoff. Vigeland will be joined by five performers, David Adamczyk, violin; Tiffany Dumouchelle, soprano; Dan Lippel, guitar; John Popham, cello; and Steven Solook, percussion.
The program will feature Vigeland’s works, as well as music by his own teachers, Lukas Foss, Feldman, Leo Smit and former student, David Adamczyk, who will perform his own work.
