Live music and theater will activate the Burchfield Penney galleries. Join us for Play On!, a collaborative experience where visitors move throughout a series of settings for short performances in beautiful museum spaces. Revel in a concert roster featuring the celebrated Buffalo Chamber Players, Shakespeare in Delaware Park, and the Vocális Chamber Choir for an evening of strings, class acting, and choral singing. The artists will perform works crossing a range of genres:
Buffalo Chamber Players - As Buffalo’s preeminent chamber music ensemble, they present innovative music programs performed by our region’s finest musicians. The ensemble’s mission is to challenge, redefine and enhance the public’s perception of chamber music while promoting the city as an inspiring place to live, work, and play.
Shakespeare in Delaware Park - was founded in 1976 as a summer apprenticeship program for University at Buffalo theater students to work alongside professional actors. The high-quality productions were so well received that the program expanded and grew into a beloved professional theatre company and summer tradition. SDP is now the second oldest and one of the largest outdoor Shakespeare companies in the country.
Vocális Chamber Choir - founded in 2002 by its director, James Burritt, the choir is a select ensemble of dedicated professionals. Vocális is committed to performing great a cappella music of all eras and cultivating an awareness of the art of choral singing. The choir strives to inspire, educate and enlighten. In its 20th season, Vocális has established itself as one of the finest choral ensembles in Western New York.
