On the second Friday of every month, thanks to the support of M&T Bank, the Burchfield Penney stays open late and admission is free! From exhibition openings to all-ages art-making, screenings, and special programs, visitors experience the best of the Burchfield Penney. Explore the galleries and enjoy live music. The cash-only pop-up bar will be open, serving soft drinks, beer, and wine. Masks are optional.

The Language Within Us
Muhammad Zaman and Michael Mandolfo
On view April 14, 2023 – July 30, 2023, in the Project Space
The Language Within Us is a collaborative installation by painter Muhammad Zaman and photographer Michael Mandolfo. The exhibition explores the intricacies of human communication and identity through the medium of language. Zaman's painted fabric, featuring intricate calligraphic symbols, serves as the focal point of the exhibition, with photographs, audio recordings, and video projection of participants expressing language through Mandolfo’s multimedia approach. The result is a multisensory experience that is both dynamic and profound.
Dance performances by Nancy Hughes and Phil Wackerfuss will take place in the Project Space at 5:45 pm, 6:15 pm, and 6:45 pm.

Architectural Installation by Dennis Maher and Assembly House 150 Transforms Useum™ Studios
The highly anticipated interactive installation, Interfield, opens to the public tonight, April 14, 2023, from 5:30 – 8:00 pm! Designed and fabricated by artist Dennis Maher and Assembly House 150 (AH150), the project transforms the Useum™ Studio into a one-of-a-kind architectural installation that will inspire creativity and allow for greater hands-on engagement. The opening celebration will include remarks by the artist at 5:30 pm.
Guided by the artistic vision of Maher and the AH150 team, the installation represents the collaborative efforts of a diverse group of local tradespeople, design-build specialists, and former and current students in AH150’s flagship workforce development program, Society for the Advancement of Construction Related Arts (SACRA). Interfield combines specially crafted furnishings and display devices with creatively reimagined found furniture and sculptural objects to create a functional, experiential, and creative environment.

Vin DeRosa has been stomping around the Buffalo Music scene and beyond for the past 20years performing as a front man in his band VITAMIN D and prolifically as a soloist entertaining all ages with his original stylings as a songwriter as well creating a wide ranging song book of scintillating and inspired covers from essential artists in popular music history.
