The Dickens Reading simulates the reading tours that Charles Dickens made throughout Great Britain and twice in the United States. On those tours, Dickens, who sometimes acted in amateur theatricals, would stand at a self-designed podium and read vivid passages from his best-selling novels. Thousands would buy tickets and crowd into theaters and town halls to hear him dramatize the scenes that had already captured their imagination. Readings from The Pickwick Papers, Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, Bleak House, and Great Expectations.
The Dickens Reading is directed by Chris Kelly and narrated by Tony Chase
