Before she founded the Burchfield Art Center in 1966, Dr. Edna M. Lindemann was a professor in the School of Design at SUNY Buffalo State. During that time, Dr. Lindemann was instrumental to the founding of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretrum, which focused on providing access to both exotic and native trees, for the continued education of Buffalo State students. Over 50 years later, the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum at SUNY Buffalo State is being revived, and expanded.
On March 16, Burchfield Penney Art Center Archivist Heather Gring will discuss Dr. Lindemann's role in the founding of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum, and talk about the strong roots Dr. Lindemann planted that continue to influence how the Arboretum flourishes and grows today.
