About the Workshop
Charles Burchfield found beauty in each season. Intrigued by the passage of time, he often painted the space between the changing seasons. He juxtaposed seasonal portals, and he poetically expressed each season’s weather using symbols, shapes, and colors. Insects, leaves, birds, and sounds of nature communicate his emotions about nature and the extremes of weather.
Celebrate the season of Winter in your unique watermedia painting.
· Paint your interpretation of the unique persona of Winter, or emulate the transition between Fall and Winter.
· Find the poetry and sounds of the season.
· Paint the changing temperatures, weather, and shapes of the winter season.
· Use color and brushstrokes to communicate your vision of Winter.
Gather your personal photos and sketches which personify and inspire you for the Winter season or paint the seasonal changes between Fall and Winter. Receive guidance from the instructor while developing your idea. Begin the process with a graphite drawing, leading to a final painting in the watermedia of your choice.
