(b. 1989)
Tina Vu is an artist based in Cheektowaga, N.Y. Her ceramic pieces range in shape and form from docile mineral-like formations to vessels etched with geometric patterns. Vu earned her Bachelor of Science in Art Education in 2011 from Buffalo State College and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies with a concentration on ceramics at the same institution. When describing her work, Vu reflects on the human obsession with order, rules, and control over one's environment and notes, "We attempt to create order with rules and guidelines that are enforced through social institutions to govern behavior, but hindered by individuality, there is never a universal sense of order." [1]
For her entry in the Burchfield Penney Art Center's 2013 Art in Craft Media exhibition, Vu received the Sylvia L. Rosen Purchase Award.
