Takako Michii, Ph.D., is the founder and former Director of the Japanese Program at SUNY Buffalo State. Michii is the Director of Japan Culture Center of WNY, and President of the Buffalo-Kanazawa Sister City Committee. She has spent her life promoting US-Japan relations in Western New York through various events and projects with the goal of creating a friendship and understanding between the United States and Japan. In 1999, the New York State Senate honored her as one of the Distinguished Women of New York for her noteworthy achievement in many areas of the community life of WNY.
