As a teaching artist and independent artist-organizer, Siew-Wai is interested in exploring and introducing the avant-garde and experimental arts to a wider audience. She feels that it is important to respect the variety of the unique expressions in the arts, especially not to discriminate works that are lesser known or that challenge conventional expectations. For this reason, she sets up SiCKL (Studio in Cheras Kuala Lumpur), an alternative artists collective with her peers in 2006, and since then has involved in the coordination of many art events with an experimentaland avant-garde focus in her native country. Siew-Wai was the co-festival director of Sama-sama Guesthouse Mini Alternative Art Festival 2010, and the music program coordinator of the Notthatbalai Art Festival 2007, and a member of the Experimental Musicians & Artists Cooperative Malaysia (EMACM).
As festival director & curator of the Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film & Video Festival (KLEX) since 2010, Siew-Wai has been actively connected with the international experimental art communities, and has curated special KLEX screening programmes to be shown locally and internationally in Belgium, France, Hong Kong, Korea, Germany, Thailand and USA.
