Sarah Field Sonnenberg is an artist painting primarily in oil who finds her inspiration in the sensory and visual perception of the natural world. Her paintings feature mostly feminine figures who are depicted in various scenes of nature, often surrounded by insects and other wildlife. She uses texture and metallic paint to give her paintings an ethereal dream-like glowing quality, which makes them seem almost otherworldly.
Symbolism is an important part of her work. She uses various motifs to convey complex emotions and ideas that might be difficult to express in words. Her paintings are surreal, inviting the viewer to enter into a world that is both familiar and strange.
Sarah's background as an educator and former mental health counselor has had a profound influence on her work. Her many years making art with people with developmental disabilities have taught her the importance of expressing oneself through art. Her paintings are a testament to the power of art to heal, to inspire, and to transform.
