(b. 1935)
Robert Jones is an artist-designer. He received his Master of Science in Education from SUNY Buffalo State College in 1972. During his graduate studies, Jones was introduced to the art of woodcut; he has worked extensively with the medium ever since.
When discussing his woodcut work, Jones stated:
“The woodcut is a medium of the past – hard, tedious work. I’ve grown contemptuous of our fast-paced culture. The woodcut forces an artist to slow down and contemplate things. It demands finite detail in a world not governed by schedules."
His prints have been exhibited extensively in several Western New York museums and galleries, including the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Brian Gallery, Uptown Gallery of Buffalo State College, and the Burchfield Penney Art Center. He is an active member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and the Kenmore Art Society. An award-winning artist, Jones is also featured in numerous private collections.
