Rena Reisman was a visual artist whose intricate mixed media collages, and timeless natural abstractions have hung in many solo exhibitions, juried shows, and group exhibitions. She was known as a full-time artist that primarily worked out of her studio at the Tri Main Center. She received a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Daemen College in Buffalo, and a Masters of Science in Art Education from the State University of New York College at Buffalo.
Her works are well represented in a number of private and corporate collections. She has been exhibited in a variety of locations from Western New York (at the Burchfield Penney Art Center), the Castellani Art Museum, the Anderson Gallery, Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center, Chautauqua Center for The Visual Arts, Big Orbit Gallery and others.
For many years she was recognized for her abstract naturalistic landscapes. She sought to capture the feeling, spirit, and memories of a particular place. Some of her works are impressions of an imaginary place taken from her own visual experiences. In more recent years her focus has centered on collage. She was always fascinated by colors and shapes, as her works combined painting, intricate drawing, and mixed media. Reisman saw similarities between the layering that takes place in painting on canvas and the layering process of creating collages. She received several awards from the Buffalo Society of Artists, as she drew inspiration from her travels, her love of Native American art, and a multitude of Middle Eastern influences. Overall, her works reflected her own personal spiritual journey.
