Peggy Richter Haug from Western New York is a watercolorist who followed in the footsteps of her mother, Martha Burchfield Richter, and her grandfather, Charles Burchfield. Peggy is largely self-taught, although she did study briefly. Her work reflects the influence of both painter-predecessors in her family, however she paints boldly and her work expresses an individual approach and natural feel for design. Despite the slight difference, the type of life-giving animation, abstract qualities, and obvious love of the mystery of nature are typical Burchfield in style. The trio has been displayed together, including the Lake View Gallery of Art, which held an exhibition in 1970 titled "Three Generation Burchfield Exhibit" along with the Raydon Gallery in New York City in 1973.
