Nick Napierala was born in 1987 in Buffalo, New York. From a young age, the art room became a haven where he spent countless hours drawing, favoring portraits from the start. The examination of people, absence of people and their effects on others has continued to inspire his artwork. He is currently creating realistic acrylic paintings exploring these themes.
Feeling a connection to the art room brought him to the Art Education department at Daemen College. At Daemen he exhibited in several of the Visual Arts Undergraduate Exhibits, where he received honors. Before completing his undergraduate study in 2009 he was awarded the Sister Jeanne File Art History Award, and the John Avery Brice Art Educators Award, for displaying excellence in the areas of Art History and Education respectively.
While teaching kindergarten art at Smallwood Drive Elementary in the Amherst Central School District, he continued working toward his Master’s degree at Buffalo State College where he exhibited in the juried Art education student show. Nick wrote his Master’s project on the benefits of integrating Web 2.0 technology in the practice of art education before receiving his Master’s Degree in Art Education from Buffalo State College in 2011.
