Melissa (Missy) Crowell is a jewlery artist and designer who was born in 1954 and raised in Buffalo, N.Y. During the past 35 years she has been a freelance artist, director, and coordinator of two art galleries and a not-for-credit adult education program. In 2005 she returned to school, was granted a Research and Creativity Fellowship and co-founded a student government organization in her major. She graduated cum laude with a BFA in Metal/Jewelry Design in 2008. Crowell currently designs a line of hand-fabricated silver jewelry, which she actively exhibits, and is an adjunct for the Buffalo State College Design Department.
Missy Crowell's family has lived in the Western New York region for six generations. Her family has been involved in the arts and economics of the region for generations; her lineage is connected to both Charles H. Larkin and John D. Larkin, as well as Elbert Hubbard.
