Michaela Neild (she/they), is a Buffalo-based artist, dance educator, and nonprofit professional. Neild earned their MFA in Dance and Nonprofit Studies from The Ohio State University and their BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography from SUNY University at Buffalo. In addition to her role as Neglia Ballet’s Manager of CityDance Community Programs, Michaela is a professor of dance at SUNY Brockport and a certified Pilates instructor.
As an independent artist, Neild is engaged with improvisation and interdisciplinary investigation, community-building, seeking liberation through storytelling and the sharing of space. She specializes in community-engaged initiatives and has led several interdisciplinary projects involving local youth, senior adults, and refugee and immigrant populations.
Michaela’s artistic mission is to address issues of access, inclusion, and wellness through creative, community collaboration. Michaela is humbled to dance in and with the beautiful installation of artists Muhammad Zaman and Michael Mandolfo for The Language Within Us.
