Max Collins is both a photographer and installation artist. He has particularly been interested in using wheat paste—an adhesive commonly used in wallpaper application—to adhere his large-scale photographs to a variety of surfaces in public spaces and as individual objects. He earned a B.F.A. in fine art and journalism from the University of Michigan, and has done projects in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. He returned to his roots in Western New York where he has been active in a variety of activities. Awarded an M.F.A. in visual studies at the University at Buffalo in 2016, Collins has consistently produced intriguing work and offered workshops in his unique process. In 2016 the Castellani Art Museum presented Max Collins: Natural Processes in their Top Spin series.
