Keira Norton, a native of Buffalo, NY, is a ceramics artist currently living in Kansas City, MO. Norton earned her BFA in Ceramics from The Ohio State University in 2004, and her MFA in Ceramics from Indiana University–Bloomington in 2010.
Norton has been an Artist-in-Residence at RedStar Studios in Kansas City, MO, Pechacek Century Farms in Hastings, MN, and ArtMora Gallery in New York, NY. She has exhibited her work in a solo exhibition at ArtMora Gallery, and in group exhibitions at Fraction Print Studio and Gallery, Kansas City, MO; Northwest Pottery, Seattle, WA; Maplewoods Community College, Kansas City, MO; Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS; Focus Gallery, Gainesville, FL; The Paul Watkins Gallery, Winona, MN; and RedStar Studios, Kansas City, MO. In her Artist Statement, Norton explains, “My sculptures combine the supple forms and playful gestures of dolphins and whales with seductive nude human figures. They are a vehicle for my expression of ideas around the fluidity of gender, sexuality, power dynamics, and beauty.” [2]
