Josephine W. Barnard was a landscape painter. She was born in Buffalo, NY in 1869, where she resided until 1912.[1] She studied at St. Margaret’s School in Buffalo, NY, as well as the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and Teacher’s College in New York.[2] She also studied with Stanhope Forbes in England, as well as Dow, Snell and Carlson in the United States.[3] Barnard was a known member of the National Association of Women Artists as well as the Allied Artists of America.[4] She exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1925.[5] She also exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum and the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors of New York.[6]
