Jonathan Rogers is a Niagara Falls based artist. Born in Toronto, Ontario in 1937, his lengthy artistic career began by working as an apprentice printer in 1954. In 1956-59 he attended the Ontario College of Art & Design. During the early 1960s he traveled throughout the Mediterranean, Europe, and Israel. At this time, he lived in England and taught courses on drawing at Newton Abbot College of Art, Devonshire England.
In 1964 he returned to Toronto to work for the National Museum of Canada, Ottawa on a project representing the Thule and Haida cultures. After this he worked for the advertising agency, McConnel-Eastman, as their Art Director.
From 1969-1972, he was an instructor at the School of Design, Sheridan University, Ontario, Canada. During this period he began working as an animator and created short animated films like Evolu (7 minute) that toured to festivals in San Francisco, CA, New York, NY, Chicago,IL, London, England, Berlin, Germany, and Sydney, Australia.
During the late 1970s he worked on animation projects for television including, The Gift of Winter, 1973 for Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and Witch’s Night Out, 1975 for NBC. During the 1980s and 1990s he relocated to Hollywood, CA worked for Disney Studios, and Marvel Productions.
Returning to Buffalo-Niagara region in the 1990s he has been drawing and painting in Niagara Falls.
