(1931-2011)
John McIvor was born in Henderson, Kentucky in 1931. He obtained his BFA and MFA at the University of Illinois, and is known for his lush, but fractured impressionist-like floral watercolors, and collage paintings. Along with painting, McIvor also excelled at printmaking and mechanics. He came to Buffalo in 1963, and was a Buffalo State College professor and chairman of the Graduate Art Program for many years. He has had many one-man shows throughout the southeast, such as the Jacksonville Art Museum, the Columbia Museum of Art in Columbus, Georgia, and Southern Illinois University. He has also been exhibited throughout the Western New York area such as the Albright-Knox, the Burchfield Penney, the More-Rubin Gallery, and the Chautauqua Institution along with many more.
