Joel Peter Johnson’s illustrations have received multiple awards, including from the Society of Illustrators, American Illustration and Print Magazine. His artwork has inspired other artists to better articulate their potential and path. Artist Christopher Marion Thomas wrote:
“I do not know Joel personally, but I feel as though I [have] been a student of his. His Illustrations inspired me to become a professional Illustrator while still a formative student. In 1993 I purchased a book that I still cherish to this day, that book was the Society of Illustrators 34th Annual of American Illustration.
In that annual I saw Joel's work for the first time. Today as in 1993, I think there is a subtle beauty, unique vision, and outstanding craftsmanship in Joel's Illustrations, and his work speaks to me in a profound way. So this is much more than a recommendation of Joel's work, it is a personal letter of thanks to one of the best Illustrators of our time.” [2]
