Jeff Watkins is a painter who primarily works in watercolor. Currently living in Lockport, New York, Watkins paints primarily from the local landscape. During the past 40 years, Jeff taught public and private watercolor lessons, exhibited his work in many galleries, and developed a unique style.
A practitioner of "plein-air" painting and an advocate for personal expression, his paintings convey his desire for a painterly quality with authentic vision.
Since 1978, Watkins has made his living as a professional sign painter and gold leaf specialist. Jeff owns and operates “Watkins Signs” in Lockport, and is one of the few remaining hand lettering artists in the trade. He has painted on everything from the side of barns to bank windows, and from highway billboards in cow fields to large murals in professional office buildings.
He is published in Splash 3 by Rachel Wolf, The Simple Secret to Better Painting by Greg Albert, and Watercolors in a Weekend by Hazel Harrison.
