Jason Tennant is a Western New York sculptor, who works primarily in wood to create “masks and motifs of native plants and animals.” [1] Tennant’s work is solely comprised of domestic woods that he collects himself. He often immerses himself in nature in the Finger Lakes Region of New York as a source of inspiration. [2] His sculptures “express a certain gesture or characteristic that I have experienced or envisioned. These works are a celebration of nature's resilience to human stresses and are my interpretation of the essence of wildness.” [3]
He received his BFA from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his MFA from the University at Buffalo. He has exhibited his work throughout New York and has been featured in assorted publications.
