Harry Leigh

Harry Leigh was born in Buffalo and attended the Albright Art School in 1952. In 1953 he received a B.S. in Art Education from the State University College for Teachers at Buffalo before moving to New York, where he completed an M.A. at Columbia University in 1959. His paintings and sculpture have been shown in such New York galleries as O.K. Harris, Anita Shpolsky, and A.I.R. Gallery.  Early exhibitions included the Albright Art Gallery, Rochester Memorial Gallery, Albany Institute of History and Art, Everson Museum, Museum of Contemporary Crafts, and Rockland Center for the Arts in West Nyack, NY.  Leigh has had fellowships at the MacDowell Colony and Yaddo. His work was reviewed in ARTnews and The New York Times in the late 1970s.  In 2003, he completed a painted steel and ceramic wall construction commissioned for Pratt Institute’s Sculpture Park in Brooklyn, New York.
