H. Phelps Clawson

H. Phelps Clawson (1892-1975) was an archeologist and curator of Anthropology at the Buffalo Museum of Science. His book By Their Works, was printed at the Roycroft Shops and published by the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences in 1941. The author wrote: "This handbook briefly describes the history and culture of the various peoples represented in the archeological and ethnological collections of the Buffalo Museum of Science. I have attempted to make each article as interesting as possible and, at the same time, to give some life to these ancient civilizations that died so long ago."
