George Grace, a Buffalo, N.Y. native, works in acrylic, pastel, watercolor, colored pencil, graphite, and charcoal. He also makes sculptures incorporating wood and steel. Asked to describe his work, he notes, "Several years ago I coined the term 'technoluminist' to describe my brand of nocturnes, industrials, and urban landscapes. Although I 've done a wide range of subjects, my niche has been urban settings in low light: Dusk, dawn, night. ... I've been heavily influenced by the 'civilized landscapes of Innes, the dramatic atmospherics of Turner and Burchfield, and the compositional ideas of Hopper. I try to amalgamate these in all of my works." [1]
