Ethelyn Pratt Cobb

A native of Aurora, Indiana, Ethelyn Pratt Cobb studied at the Art Students League and earned a special art diploma from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York.  She also studied at the Woodstock Landscape School and the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield, Michigan.  She taught art in New Jersey before coming to Buffalo and teaching at the former Elmwood School.  She was a member of the Patteran Society and had her artworks exhibited at the Albright Art Gallery, Sisti Gallery, Garret Club, Junior League clubrooms, and other regional galleries.  Ethelyn and her sister, Fredericka Pratt Cobb, operated an antiques store on Allen Street called Treasure Island Shop, Inc.  The Associated Art Organization organized a retrospective exhibition in Cobb’s honor at the Wilcox Mansion after her death in 1973.
