Dawn (Martin) Berry-Walker of Buffalo, NY began painting after retiring from 33 years of teaching mathematics in the Buffalo public school system. Always a passionate lover of art, in its many forms, it was only after the passing of her beloved mother, Dr. Kay E. Martin, that she was moved to express herself as a visual artist. Although known for her commitment to the local jazz landscape through the continuation of her father's legacy via the Pappy Martin Legacy - Masten Jazz Festival and the Pappy Martin Legacy Jazz Society, Dawn has been a perennial supporter of various art initiatives throughout the community. Since her parents shared their love of music, literature, poetry, visual arts and theater, she has personalized the term "army brat" by referring to herself as a "jazzart brat"...born-raised-and-taught in jazz and art....and a proud member of the culture and lifestyle of such a family.
