Chris Gallant

Chris Gallant, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., describes himself as a “multimedia storyteller.” He is a graduate of Buffalo State College’s Communication department where he earned a BA (and later was a 2008 recipient of the college’s Young Alumnus Achievement Award and a 2010 recipient of the Communication department's Professional Achievement Award). In 2007 he graduated from the University at Buffalo’s Department of Media Study where he received his MFA in media arts production.

Gallant's full-time professional career spans over a decade and a half of work in broadcast media. He has worked at stations WRDW-TV/Augusta, Georgia; WTOL-TV/Toledo, Ohio; WKBW-TV/Buffalo, N.Y.; and most recently at WGRZ-TV/Buffalo, N.Y. He received two NYS Emmys for his work in broadcast journalism, one in 2008 for "They Made a Mistake: the Anthony Capozzi Story" and one in 2010 for "Niagara Falls: A Tale of Two Cities." He has also received seven Emmy nominations and numerous awards from the Associated Press, National Press Photographers Association, and Gannett News. He continues to freelance as a director, producer, and editor for various news and commercial organizations.

Gallant serves as an assistant professor in the Digital Media and Communication Department of Hilbert College and also taught as an adjunct professor at the University at Buffalo for three years. He is actively involved in the Western New York media arts community and served on the board of directors at Squeaky Wheel/Buffalo Media Resources for several years.
