Catherine (Cathy) Pardike was a Western New York artist who studied Art Education in the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, before earning a B. A. in Art Education from the University of Washington, Seattle. She received a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City in 1984. She taught in California, Washington, Utah before coming to Western New York in the late 1980s. She taught in schools in East Aurora and Elma and was represented by the Clary-Miner Gallery, Ltd. in Buffalo—where the Untitled work in the collection was originally exhibited.
Pardike is a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and has shown work in their members’ exhibitions. In 1992, the Calumet Gallery exhibited recent paintings under the title Definitely Freudian. The Adams Art Gallery in Dunkirk showed her work with Kent Divers’ in 1996. The NCCC Art Gallery gave her a solo exhibition in 2008 titled Private Places: Drawings & Paintings by Cathy Pardike; the Carnegie Art Center presented Balancing Acts: Works by Jackie Felix, Cathy Pardike and Coni Minneci in 2009.
