Catherine Howe is a painter, educator, and curator based in New York City. She received her MFA in painting from the University at Buffalo; while living in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the exhibitions curator at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center from 1984 to 1988. She moved to New York in 1989 and served as associate director of White Columns from then until 1995, while also developing her own career as an artist.
Howe is on the graduate painting faculty of the New York Academy of Art. Her work has been exhibited internationally and has been discussed in the pages of The New York Times, Artforum, Art in America, and The Los Angeles Times, among other publications.
