Benjamin Minter is an artist living and working in Buffalo, New York. His work is often used as a functional tool towards self-improvement. Concerned heavily with time, he likes to ask questions about how we should be using it. "The human life span is relatively predictable and if we are a product of our compounded experiences, how should we be spending our time that is necessary for us to become the beautiful beings we all inherently want to be?" (Minter)
Minter was born and raised in Clarence, New York. In May of 2011, he graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Studies. During his time at UB, Minter focused mainly on painting because it afforded him the most creative freedom, but he also took advantage of many of the resources other departments could offer him. Especially influential were courses in Art History, which helped him shape and develop his personal perspectives on art.
Benjamin Minter's family has been in the western New York region for nearly a hundred years. His mother's side of the family has lived in the region for at least four generations, and his father's side has been here for three generations. Minter describes his connection to the region warmly. "I feel very much so that I have a personal connection to Buffalo. It is my home. It is where all my family has existed for multiple generations. I am a living and breathing product of this city and so are my relatives. It is very much a part of who I am as a physical being and a personality. I love who I am and I thank this city for that. Buffalo is a really special place and I think the people from Buffalo are special too." (Minter)
