Born in Warren, Pennsylvania, Alma Rosenquist Slotkin was a former student of Robert N. Blair and Arthur Kowalski. She admired Charles E. Burchfield and stated that she was in an MGM film with him that was screened overseas. She received a nursing diploma at Buffalo General Hospital in 1936 and did graduate study at the Montreal Neurological Institute in 1938.
A long-standing member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, Slotkin frequently showed her work in their exhibitions and in other galleries in the Buffalo region.
