Carson Waterman (Snipe Clan, Seneca Nation, born 1944)

In this study for a larger painting, Waterman includes the three sisters—corn, beans, and squash—as the primary elements of the design. The Seneca Gustoweh with its single eagle feather is repeated three times, with the Hiawatha Belt in the center symbolizing the unity of the original five Haudenosaunee nations.
