"From the artist:
In an observational effort to study structural malfunction within glass, a family of 10 cups (made by artist) with shared design elements are repeatedly exposed to 1150 F for 15 minutes. The cup tops and the feet are the same, but the midsection of each cup is built with different stem systems (to observe their individual vulnerabilities. After each firing, the cups are documented as a unit and placed back in the kiln for another cycle of slight transformation. The process is repeated until each cup
is structurally compromised to the point of finding themselves flat and at rest on the kiln shelf. The finished piece lives as a large photograph picturing the first 10 cycles of change."
