“Shape chaos, shape God. Recombine the seeds of Change. Seize Change. Use it. Adapt and grow.” —from Parable of the Sower, by Octavia Butler
Sun
Rain
The ground rolls,
Seeds rattle their collective song
Push up and through, reaching.
I stare at the stars,
Searching for a new start
Watching Chaos bend to God’s will.
I use Chaos, it uses me.
God is Change. I use Change to shape God.
The stars listen.
Sun again, then rain.
Growth moves me forward, upward
Away from pain, pollution and war,
Sickness floating in
Mid-air.
The green and yellow open, making my roof,
They know me, I am their mother.
As I give them life, they give me
Power.
Soon, I will learn to fly.
It comes in dreams, but soon
We will leave this blasted earth
And I can lead you,
Children.
The seeds of Change.
I shape Change, it shapes
Me.
“Without positive obsession,
There is
Nothing at all.”
I stare, face pointed up
Beyond this sun
Lies our star.
Listen.
We will fly to the stars,
Our future, home.
