2nd Ave. Manhole is a manhole cover appearing to pierce the gallery floor, embedded with a recording of the sound of street-level noise as heard from the underbelly of Brooklyn. The recording emanates, softly, coming in hushed waves, audible to a greater degree when closer. Whooshing, rushing and billowing, the sound from 2nd Ave. Manhole envelops the viewer the closer they come, asking each of us to pitch our bodies forward in investigation of the source of the sound.
